GOLDEN GATE PARKWAY OVERPASS
GOLDEN GATE PARKWAY OVERPASS
Project scope called for the construction of a Grade Separated Overpass in place of the existing intersection of Golden Gate Parkway and Airport-Pulling Road to alleviate traffic at one of the most highly congested intersections on Florida’s West Coast. The main component of the project was the construction of a 6-lane overpass as well as redirecting the existing SFWMD canal. The project is well known in the area for its unique architectural finishes and has been labeled a “one of a kind bridge”. The scope of work consisted of the construction of a 6 lane, 517’ bridge from end to end, the construction of 2 miles of roadway, a new storm sewer system, the construction of a double-barrel box culvert, including 434 LF of steel sheet pile bulkhead walls to redirect the existing Canal and the relocation of a 36” Water Main and construction of littoral zones in the adjoining wetland retention areas.
