FIU STADIUM EXPANSION

MCM provided overall Master Plan Program coordination with both the Design professionals and University for the demolition of the existing grandstand bleachers and the addition of new North Side bleacher seats. Also included in our scope was the addition of a concourse level deck, upper bowl level bleachers, an independent tower structure that will include future press boxes, coaches boxes, and additional multi-purpose areas, as well as two pedestrian ramps providing access to and from the concourse level on both the northwest and northeast corners of the stadium. The structure consists of 400 tons of structural steel and 2,500 cy yards of concrete between columns, concourse level deck, and mat foundations, which were designed to support both the current bleacher structure and future upper concourse additions. Additionally, upgrades to life-safety, electrical, and A/V systems, which tied back into existing services were performed. Overall, an additional 3,938 seats were added, and our team was able to complete the project ahead of schedule and in time for the 2012 football season while providing cost savings back to the Owner.
