Road - Golden Gate Parkway Overpass
Project scope called for construction of a Grade Separated Overpass in place of the existing intersection of Golden Gate Parkway and Airport-Pulling Road in order to alleviate traffic at one of the most highly congested intersections on Florida’s West Coast. The main component of the project was the construction of a 6-lane overpass as well as redirecting the existing SFWMD canal. The project is well known in the area for its unique architectural finishes and has been labeled a “one of a kind bridge”. The scope of work consisted of the construction of a 6 lane, 517’ bridge from end to end, the construction of 2 miles of roadway, a new storm sewer system, the construction of a double barrel box culvert, including 434 LF of steel sheet pile bulkhead walls in order to redirect the existing Canal and the relocation of a 36” Water Main and construction of littoral zones in the adjoining wetland retention areas.
"The Collier County Board of Commissioners was very happy with the outcome of this project, and commends MCM for being able to surpass all the challenges this project entailed." Jay Ahmad, PE, Director of Transportation Engineering, Collier County.
