The new building was designed to replace an existing parking lot that serviced the patrons for LMC Kendall. MCM's scope included the demolition of the existing lot which included relocating several Oak trees to the other side of the property. The overall project scope includes the construction of a parking garage (Precast Structure) to service the parking needs for both patients and doctors of the Leon Medical Centers Kendall Branch.
Due to the active nature of the medical center, it was vital to prepare and apply a coordinated approach where no interruptions to the existing traffic flow would occur. The facility provided its patrons with shuttle services from and to the Medical Center. Due to the nature of the property and the scope of the Civil work, preplanning was necessary to insure no interruptions to the shuttle service would occur at anytime. MCM has managed to complete the civil scope ahead of schedule leaving the client pleased with how successful we have managed to hit all the promised turn over dated of all the areas that needed to get shut down to perform the work. Due to the technical nature of the building erection sequence MCM managed to complete all the preconstruction documentation necessary ahead of the actual start of the work. The building will have 2 elevators servicing all levels & 2 stair wells.
The building foundations consisted of 326 Piles and Pile caps that varied in size from 5 to 50 pile caps. Due to the elevation of the water table and the depth of the pile caps dewatering was a one of the challenges that we had to deal with and we have managed to over come this successfully, working 6 days a week completing all foundation ahead of schedule.
