Topping Off the Miami Riverfront’s New East Coast Building
The East Coast Building held its topping-out ceremony on March 13. Among the many MCM representatives present at the ceremony were Jorge Munilla, Alexis Leal, Joe Fernandez, Armando Perez and Erick Valderrama, as well as the East Coast Building Project Team of Manuel Escasena (PM), Angel Cisneros (Superintendent), Pedro Alonso (Asst Superintendent), Diana Piñeiro (PE), Jason Goltzman (Safety) and Arturo di Mauro (Purchasing). The owners of MV Real Estate Holdings, Alexis Mantecon and Guillermo Vadell, were also in attendance, and the City of Miami was represented by Commissioner Keon Hardemon.
Joe Fernandez and Alexis Mantecon, the Managing Member of MV Real Estate Holdings, recognized the great efforts of the entire project team. The employees were also treated to a luncheon and a raffle was held at the end, courtesy of contributions from owners, subcontractors and MCM.
The East Coast Building will be a nine-story structure located at 123 Southwest North River Drive, along the Miami River. It will be mixed-use, consisting mainly of a storage facility, but also retail stores and two restaurants—one on the ninth floor and another on the rooftop, which will offer incredible views of the Miami skyline.
Also featured will be a 30-by-70-foot mural done by FIU students as part of a collaborative project. The abstract rendering of birds in flight crossing the Miami River will be visible to southbound I-95 traffic.
To date, MCM has no lost time accidents and has maintained the project on schedule.
