MIAMI-DADE ISD TRADE SHOP FACILITY

The ISD Trade Shop Facility is the first Miami-Dade County LEED Silver Certified facility utilized by County employees.  This building is now home to the new Internal Services Department, Design and Construction Services Division. The site had an existing warehouse that was demolished by LEED requirements which outline recycling the appropriate construction and demolition materials such as concrete, asphalt, wood, and steel. The facility contains a 20,000 sq. ft. area of office space, lunch room; over 8,000 sq. ft. of stock room area, training room, record storage, and a furniture warehouse facility all comprising 100,000 total square feet.  Parking was also provided for 112 private and County vehicles, low emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles, and bicycles on the 5.5-acre property.  The materials to construct the facility included sustainable wood, recyclable carpets, and eco-friendly furniture. The building has a state-of-the-art air conditioning system. Recycling systems and equipment for paper, brass, copper, metals, wood, fluorescent, or other light bulbs were implemented.
