The National Association of Women in Construction Miami Chapter- 41 announces that MCM Project Manager, Ana DePriest, will be serving the 2013-2014 year in a dual capacity.  Ana will serve on the Board of Directors as well as on the Membership Committee Chair.  She will be part of a team focused on growing the Miami Chapter membership and planning events that will support the strategic plan.

Angelia Pinaga, Business Development and Marketing Manager for the MCM Texas Division, is serving on the Leadership Panel of the Regional Hispanic Contractor Association (RHCA) as a Committee Chairperson for the upcoming annual LUNA Awards. In this role, she and a team, are working to manage and coordinate the flow of the stage for speakers and others on program the day of the event. MCM was honored at the 2013 Latin Builders Association (LBA) Awards Luncheon on Friday September 27th, 2013 for its 30 years in business. This event recognized outstanding directors, member organizations, and community leaders within different categories. In attendance was Governor Rick Scott and Celebrity Emcee, Enrique Santos. MCM had the opportunity to present during the luncheon as the firm was awarded the Contractor of the Year award.

Juan Munilla, MCM VP, and Elliot Press, Project Manager, had the opportunity to meet GEN (R) Colin Powell, former US Secretary of State, at the Pittsburgh Diversity and Leadership Conference in California, Pennsylvania on September 19, 2013.  The purpose of the conference was to continue fostering and advancing corporate leadership education and awareness of the varied dimensions of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Throughout the day there were several panel presentations by distinguished leaders from the Pittsburgh area and a keynote address by Gen.

Terminal D Expansion Project at Port of Miami recently received LEED Silver Certification and the plaque presentation ceremony took place on September 17th, 2013.  Ruben Bravo, Project Engineer and LEED Manager attended the event to receive the plaque in the company of Elizabeth Ogden, Art Tillberg (POM), Victoria Valdez, Greg Hamra, Chairwoman, Rebecca Sosa, Bill Johnson (POM), 
Commissioner Sally Heyman, Patricia Gomez, Stephen Chang (Moss), Nichole Hefty and Debra Owens.

MCM APPARENT LOW BIDDER FOR TxDOT PROJECT

On September 11, 2013 MCM Texas Division was announced the apparent low bidder on the $28 Million TxDOT project, FM423 in Denton County Texas. The scope consists of widening a two lane rural undivided roadway to a six lane divided urban roadway. 

OVERTOWN GATEWAY PROJECT APPROVED

OVERTOWN GATEWAY PROJECT APPROVED

MCM is the construction partner for the Overtown Gateway development team, led by R. Donahue Peebles and Barron Channer, which was recently given the opportunity to redevelop a city block in Miami’s Overtown Community.

The Overtown Gateway portion of the project consists of a 150-room hotel, residential, affordable housing and commercial development component estimated at $125 Million. When completed, this project will “…repopulate and revitalize the long-blighted heart…” of the neighborhood, according to Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones.
